Step-by-Step Guide
Follow these steps to link a lead or deal to FLEX:
Step 1 — Important Information About Linking
Critical: BrokerEngine can't confirm whether the FLEX ID you entered is correct. Take care following these instructions.
BrokerEngine is limited to confirming the following:
- FLEX ID belongs to a valid opportunity or application, and the
- opportunity or application that the FLEX ID links to is assigned to the current broker.
If you enter an incorrect application ID when updating a lead or deal, BrokerEngine syncs future notes to the wrong application.
Step 2 — Find the FLEX ID for an Application
From an email
Open the message you received from FLEX after you sent through the application. Scroll down to Flex App ID and copy the ID.
From FLEX
- Click the Applications tab.
- Select My Applications on the drop down menu.
- Click Query.

Enter part of the application name or the applicant's surname and hit Enter. Find the correct record and copy the text from the Id column.

Step 3 — Link a Lead or Deal to an Existing FLEX Entity
- Click the Sync button in the top right hand corner of your screen.
- Click FLEX. A popup displays.
- BrokerEngine asks if you want to create an opportunity in FLEX or link to an existing one. Click Link Existing FLEX ID.
Enter the FLEX ID for the opportunity or application.

Select the type of FLEX entity (i.e. Opportunity or Application) on the drop down menu. Click Link. BrokerEngine links the lead or deal to the FLEX opportunity or application. Whenever you create a note for the lead or deal, BrokerEngine gives you the option to copy it to FLEX when you save the note.
Step 4 — Update the FLEX ID When You Promote an Opportunity
When you promote a FLEX opportunity to an application, FLEX creates a new FLEX ID. This means BrokerEngine's stored FLEX ID is no longer current. You need to update it before you can copy notes.
Option 1 — Update via Lender Reference
Update the Lender Reference field in the Lender Details section of a lead or deal.
BrokerEngine prompts you to update the FLEX ID. Paste in the FLEX ID you copied from FLEX. Click Update.
Option 2 — Manual Update
- Open the Lead or Deal in full view.
- Click the Sync button in the top right hand corner.
- Click FLEX. A popup displays.
BrokerEngine displays information about the link to FLEX, including the FLEX ID.

- Go to the FLEX ID, click the three-dot icon, and then Change ID.
- Paste the FLEX ID and select Application on the drop down.
- Click Update.

Step 5 — Check the FLEX ID Linked from a Lead or Deal
- Open the Lead or Deal in full view.
- Click the Sync button in the top right hand corner.
- Click FLEX. A popup displays.
BrokerEngine displays information about the link to FLEX, including the FLEX ID. Look up the application in FLEX to confirm your lead or deal is linked correctly.

Step 6 — Update the FLEX ID When You Demote an Application
BrokerEngine doesn't have an automated process for updating the FLEX ID if you demote an application back to an opportunity in FLEX. However, you can manually update the FLEX ID on the lead or deal so that notes sync from BrokerEngine to the opportunity instead of the application.
Step 7 — Remove the FLEX ID from a Lead or Deal
You cannot remove the link between a deal or lead and a FLEX opportunity or application by deleting its FLEX ID. However, you can disconnect the lead or deal from FLEX. BrokerEngine resets and purges the linked opportunity or application inside the deal.
