A template is a structured file you can copy and use repeatedly. BrokerEngine uses templates to preload information and formatting — automate steps, reuse standard text, include personalised variables, and ensure consistency across brokers and teams.

The BrokerEngine user interface in this video is old, but the tips from Craig are timeless and actionable in the new UI.
Step-by-Step Guide
Click each template type below for instructions on creating the templates:
Step 1 — Note Templates
Use note templates to add a note to a dashboard card. Using a note template can speed up activities like completing or assigning a task.
Step 2 — Task Templates
Use task templates to:
- Create manual tasks that aren't common enough to add to a workflow, but still common enough to be re-used.
- Add tasks to your workflow for automation.
Step 3 — Email Templates
You can use email templates to:
- Add a Send Email step to a workflow. This workflow step uses a template to construct an email message and send it to a static email address or a person with a specific role on a card.
- Send an email to a person from their contact record or a card. Using a template speeds up the process by providing a pre-written message and settings.
Step 4 — Workflow Templates
Create workflow templates to show BrokerEngine the automated processes you want to run if specific things happen.
Step 5 — SMS Templates
Use SMS templates to:
- Add a Send SMS step to a workflow. This workflow step uses an SMS template to construct a message and send it to a static number or a person with a specific role on a card.
- Send an SMS message to a person from their contact record or a card. Using SMS templates speeds up the process by providing a pre-written message and settings.
Step 6 — Smart Docs Templates
Create Smart Doc templates that pull data through with merge fields to customisable documents.
