Step-by-Step Guide
Follow these steps to integrate touchSMS with BrokerEngine:
Step 1 — Check touchSMS Availability
New integrations are not enabled by default for all broker groups. To check:
Click the account icon (with your initials) in the bottom left corner.
Click Settings.
In the Settings column, click Integrations.
Click to expand the touchSMS section.
Tip: If you don't see touchSMS in the list, ask support to enable it for your broker group.
Step 2 — Set Up Your touchSMS Account
Click the Timezone field and select the correct option. This affects message scheduling.
Check the API box under Integrations your business would like to use with touchSMS.
Click Create account.

Verify your email address and mobile number for touchSMS. Log in to touchSMS.

Step 3 — Configure Sender ID
touchSMS allows you to identify the sender using:
Dedicated virtual number — The mobile number your SMS messages appear to come from. You can forward replies and calls.
Alphanumeric sender ID — Your business or brand name. Clients can't reply. Every message must legally contain a link to an opt-in option.
Own number — Your mobile phone number. Replies and calls come to your mobile.
Step 4 — Create a Virtual Phone Number
In touchSMS, click Virtual Numbers in the side navigation bar. Click Order Number.

Select a country for the phone number.
Select a phone number with the features and price point you want.
Click Finalize Purchase.

Step 5 — Create an Alphanumeric Sender ID
In touchSMS, click Settings > Allowed Sender IDs in the sidebar. Check the confirmation box.

Enter the name you want to use. Click Submit. touchSMS will review and approve or reject it.

Step 6 — Configure Reply Forwarding
On the Virtual Numbers page, click the menu icon next to the number you purchased and click Edit.
Add a name to make the virtual number easy to remember.
Enter an email address for automatic SMS forwarding.
Enter a phone number for automatic call forwarding.

Step 7 — Generate a touchSMS API Key
In touchSMS, click Settings > API Settings. Click Create Api Key.

Enter a descriptive name for the API key that reminds you it's for BrokerEngine.

Turn on Enabled.
Click Save.
Copy the ACCESS TOKEN for the new API key.

Step 8 — Add API Key to BrokerEngine
Click the account icon in the bottom left corner.
In the Settings column, click Integrations.
Select touchSMS.

Click the description to expand the touchSMS entry. Paste the access token and token ID from touchSMS into the relevant fields. Click Validate then Save.

Note: If you have more than one mobile number, select the number you want BrokerEngine messages to come from. To limit text messages to specific time periods (e.g. business hours), turn on Limit SMS sending times.
Step 9 — Add Multiple Brokers
Follow these steps to share one touchSMS account with multiple brokers.
In touchSMS, click Settings > Allowed Sender IDs.
Click Verify Number.

Enter the broker's mobile number and click Send Code. Enter the verification code and click Verify and Save.

Go to API Settings and click Create API Key. You can edit the name to include the broker's name. Then add the API tokens to BrokerEngine and save.

Step 10 — Shorten URLs in SMS Messages
touchSMS can automatically shorten any hyperlink in an SMS message. To activate:
In touchSMS, click Settings > Profile & Settings.
Click the SMS Settings tab.
Turn on Automatically Shorten Urls.
Click Save.
Note: URLs are not shortened in BrokerEngine. Instead, touchSMS shortens URLs after BrokerEngine sends the message and before touchSMS sends it out as an SMS.
Step 11 — Allow BrokerEngine to Send Emails to touchSMS
In touchSMS, click Settings > Email To SMS. Switch on the Email to SMS Settings toggle.

Select the maximum number of standard SMS parts touchSMS should use when converting an email to an SMS message. Multi-part SMS messages can have up to 153 characters per message part.
Note: touchSMS charges per SMS message part. If you send a multi-part message, you'll typically be billed for multiple SMS messages.

Select Strict under Email to SMS Security.
Click Save.
Click +Add Email Address.

Enter the email address that BrokerEngine uses to send emails on your behalf. Select the phone number for SMS. Click Add Email.
