The Interview Guide is our mini-compliance wizard and the perfect place to set up your compliance notes. The wizard compiles information into concise subsections about the client's goals and objectives.
Use templates to quickly add information to the interview guide output. Templates are fully customisable, and you can create as many as you need. The best part is that the templates take full advantage of BrokerEngine's merge fields, so you can insert client-specific information from other parts of the system to produce the all important 'unique' client notes for compliance.

Prerequisites
If you are utilising merge fields in your Interview Guide templates, ensure you have filled out the relevant fields before completing the Interview Funding. Common merge fields used are from the Funding Position and Contact details of your clients. The better your input the better your output!
Video walkthrough
Locating the interview guide
-
Open a lead or deal card in full view mode.
-
Expand the Strategy section on the left hand sidebar
- Click Interview Guide
Reviewing the interview guide layout
The interview guide has three main parts:
-
Headings
-
Sections
-
Templates
Headings and Sections are labels that you can customise.

Creating a template
Create a template to quickly add notes that you use regularly. You'll save time by not typing the same message again and again. You also have the option to utilise merge fields to pull data from within the deal into your templates.
-
Go to the Templates column and click the plus (+) icon. The Create Template popup displays.
-
Enter a template name.
-
Click the Section field and select an option on the drop-down menu.
-
Enter the note text in the message field.
-
Optionally, add merge fields to create personalised documents. (see below)
- If you would like to auto populate an interview guide section with a template, tick the Broker Group Default option.
- Click Save.
It's important to note that all templates are global to your account. If you create, edit or set a template as default, the changes will apply to all users within your account.
Adding merge fields
-
Enter the default message text.
-
Place the mouse in a location that will hold a merge field.
-
Go to the Mail Merge column.
-
Search for a merge field.
-
Click the merge field label.

BrokerEngine adds the merge field to the message. Repeat the steps to add more merge fields. Click Save.

Adding a template to a section
Now you've created your templates, here's how to use them:
-
Open the relevant section in the interview guide
-
Click where in the section you would like to populate the template text
-
Go to the Templates column.
-
Locate the temple you want to insert.
-
Click the template one time.

BrokerEngine adds the template to the section. If the template has merge fields, BrokerEngine auto-replaces the merge fields with actual data in the deal (e.g. client name and location). If there is no data to populate in the merge field the system will populate a - symbol so can identify and fill the gap manually.
