It's best practice to assign a broker when you create a lead or deal. With a defined broker, the system can assign the appropriate branding to all your client-facing communications. Adding a broker to a new lead or deal (or updating the broker on an existing card) can also affect the captured metrics within the system and integration settings.
That being said, it's possible to change the broker of a lead or deal at anytime.
To ensure the correct brokers details are pulling through for client comms you also need to change the owner of the primary applicant allocated to the deal. See below

Assigning a broker on lead or deal creation
By default, BrokerEngine captures the name of the person who creates a lead or deal and fills the Broker field with that name. That's a time-saving feature if a broker creates the lead or deal. If an admin or support user creates the lead or deal, they must click the field and select the appropriate broker.

Change the Broker
To change the broker assigned to an existing deal or lead, open a deal or lead card in full view mode.
Click Overview in the left-hand menu to expand the folder.
Click Teams.
Click the Broker field and select an option.

BrokerEngine auto-fills the Default Broker Brand field. You can change the brand if you have multiple brands. Click Set Broker and Save. (Click here to learn how to create multiple broker brands.

Change the Owner of the Primary Applicant
Changing just the broker on a lead or deal card won't automatically update the owner of the contacts associated with the deal. This is an important step as BrokerEngine will take the brand details of the owner of the primary contact on a deal for client facing communications such as FinanceVault, email templates and reports.
If you are changing the broker of the deal, you should also change the owner of the primary applicant (contact) on the deal. There is no need to change this for all applicants.
Here's how:
1. Within the deal expand the Fact Find section on the left hand sidebar
2. Click Applicants
3. Click Personal Details. The Primary Applicants details will load in the centre pane.
4. Scroll down to and expand the Additional Information section
5. Click the Default Broker Brand field and select the correct broker brand from the drop down
6. Click Save
